Azerbaijan

I flew into Baku via Frankfurt, with Lufthansa. There was one disappointment: There was no entertainment system on board (a 4 1/2 hour flight).
Our meal more than made up for that, however. It was one of the best meals I have ever had on an economy flight. The food seems to have been Azerbaijani, vegetarian, and extremely tasty. The local red wine was also very nice.

From the people sitting next to me, a Philippina who lives in Arth SZ and a black lady who lives in Geneva, I found out that we were coming into Baku just when the Formula 1 was running. We arrive at around 2330 and there were only 4 out of the 8 people expected. The others were to arrive later.

We met them the next morning at 9 am. Most of us had not slept very much and we waited for one lady who had not heard (at 330 am) that we were going to leave so early. They rang her out of bed, so we left about 1/2 hour late. Our eighth participant was even later. He had not registered for a visa did not seem to have slept at all (because he only got to the hotel in the early morning). He joined us later on that morning.
